Colombia is the only South American country to share both a Pacific and Atlantic coast. It boasts of Beautiful coastal cities like Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta, but also metropolis type of cities like Bogota. Since Colombia has not been overly frequented by foreign investors, tourists and retirees there are many deals to be had throughout the entire country. Colombia has one of the lowest costs of living compared to other popular retirement haves like Panama, and Costa Rica, and offers everything a expat could want including proximity to the United States, easy access to beaches, tourism attractions, good infrastructure, variation of climates throughout the country ranging from mildly cool to hot coastal cities, medical facilities, and more.
One of Colombia’s most attractive benefits is the easy access to low cost quality health care. Colombia is well known for it’s great doctors and has become one of the primary destinations for the so called “health tourism.”
Finally one cannot fail to mention Colombia without mentioning the people. Colombians were not to long ago ranked the happiest people on Earth. Although most Colombian’s live modest lifestyles, they sure know how to enjoy themselves. The people are warm, and friendly, which makes the adjustment that much easier.
